My Advent Wish #7

As I plan, work on, and print my photographic projects I make notes on what works, how it works, and how I’d like things to work (for me). This post is one of my 2025 Advent Wishlist Calendar. If you are a camera/lens/accessory manufacturer, feel free to implement those ideas.

Dear Santa,

I would like to have option to trigger shutter release when camera is level on one, two, or three selectable planes. Pressing the trigger release button would put the camera in shutter release-ready mode, but the shutter would only be released when the level sensors indicated that the sensor is perfectly level.

One application would be street photography, or situations where it is necessary to hold the camera over your head.

This is not necessarily new idea. I was part of the group of photographers asked to give feedback and improvement ideas by a German representative of a camera manufacturer often associated with street photography. His response was, “who would want that?” so I guess it’s up for grabs. Make it happen. Please.
